Frequently asked questions
What is an amortization schedule?
A payment-by-payment table showing how much of each payment covers interest, how much reduces principal, and the balance remaining — the loan's full flight plan.
Why does so little go to principal at first?
Interest is computed on the balance, which starts at its maximum. The payment is fixed, so whatever interest doesn't consume goes to principal — very little, early on.
Can I download the schedule?
Yes — Export CSV gives the full monthly table for spreadsheets, and the PDF report includes the yearly summary.
Monthly vs yearly view — which should I use?
Yearly for the big picture and planning; monthly (in the CSV) for exact per-payment figures and balance lookups.
